Flying insects are obviously drawn to heat sources (like human bodies). But why do they always have to go for the ears? The worst I ever got in my ear was a gnat. Sounded pretty loud, though.
The paperclip operation sounds pretty dangerous! I heard that you can flush a bug out of your ear with baby oil or one of the earwax irrigation kits. Thankfully, I've never had to try anything like that! ^_^;....
