I think the last time I posted I was raging about something, LOL...

Everyone is doing ok here, I guess. We did some fix-up work on the house and our bathroom's not disgusting anymore, at least.

As if I didn't have enough hobbies already, I'm trying to learn me how to draw. I've been practicing for about six weeks and the results have been...mixed. But promising? I'm just tired of the AI screwing up my pictures. Everything is starting to look really samey. I think my best AI pics are behind me, honestly. I'm sure that if I quit on AI art entirely I'll lose most of my instagram followers, but I have a feeling most of them are bots, anyway, ha ha ha... I know a lot of people hate AI art and a lot of people are passionate about it, but I'm just getting bored with it.

At least not for today. Booboo had his annual vet visit and he is fine, fine, fine! About as fine as a 16 1/2 year old cat with aging kidneys can be. That Porus One supplement has done wonders for his kidneys and his tummy. He actually gained 1/2 lb. Even though he's been happy and adorable lately, he's been drinking and peeing a lot and I was afraid that meant his kidneys were going south. But they aren't! For all I know this kid is going to live to be 20+. My funny baby. Somebody was looking out for us out there. We really needed this good news.

I'm still watching Season One of the Muppet Show...weirded out by the fact that in the early episodes Miss Piggy is performed by both Frank Oz and Richard Hunt within the same episode, and the two voices sound totally different!

I feel bad saying so because he's an iconic character, but Fozzie Bear is freaking annoying!

Also, I didn't really get it by listening to Gobo in Fraggle Rock, but Jerry Nelson could really saaaaang!

I don't know who half these guest stars are LOL...so far I only recognized Rita Moreno. I'm old but not that old, I guess.

The show was pretty racist!

Why....

...for some reason whenever I use a sheet mask Lucas has to start licking the serum off my face.

It feels tropical tonight. It's nasty humid!

I dyed my hair today and I'm feeling so darn better about myself now, LOL. I'm lucky enough to have very few wrinkles in spite of my advancing age, but my hair has a ton of gray in it. So for the past three years I've been coloring it with Ion demi-permanent hair dye in a 50/50 mix of 9NA (ash blond) and 8N(natural blond). The result is a very shiny strawberry brown color. Not blond. But I don't mind. It's fun to be a kind-of redhead. Sometimes I miss my old ash brown color, but it was starting to get mousy even without the gray.

Yeah! I'm old!

So I'm trying to make myself feel better by watching a show even older than I am, the Muppet Show on Disney+. That show went off the air when I was pretty young, but I remember fighting my brother over his stuffed Kermit the Frog. Eventually my father got so mad at us for fighting that he threw Kermit out the back door in the middle of the night. Nice.

I eventually became terrified of Kermit after I saw that Sesame Street sketch where he sprouted teeth and tried to bite Grover. Damn!

Booboo is giving me the sweet stuff tonight like he does every night. He's such a good boy. Even if he did interrupt me while I was reading some terrible story arc in Ranma 1/2, LOL...

Rainy Day.

Getting some hearty rain today. I'm glad that I don't have to water anything! Unfortunately, the lawn is growing fast and the brush has gotten really crazy around here. It's hard to keep up with the yard when you're sitting by the phone all the time, you know? But I ordered myself a little hand sickle off Amazon and I'm ready to go massacre mode on the weeds once it shows up on Sunday.

The only flowers we have of interest right now are butterfly bush and some giant ass hibiscus. Quietness is blooming, too. Lovely rose.

Booboo has a vet appointment next Tuesday. I'm a bit nervous. He's still pretty juicy, but he's 16. He doesn't seem like he's ill, though...he loves his life.

Practicing with the subholes on the ocarina, alternating between my soprano and alto models. I'm trying to convince myself that being able to easily play the soprano ocarina is a privilege reserved for people like me who have small hands...really, I'm trying to make myself feel better because my hands are too small for the bass ocarina!

Getting a little better at playing The Lost Painting on the flute. It's only been two months, LOL...there are a few flutists performing the piece on youTube and even though they all play beautifully, that ain't F# minor!

Another really challenging one is that first Dr. Wily stage music from Mega Man 2. It's written in E major/ C# minor and I'm going through it really slow. Strangely enough, I find F# minor harder to play...

Thanks to me giving myself a baptism by fire and attempting to play flute music in the key of F#minor and other keys that are like ##### I've finally achieved the finger flexibility in my left hand to play that dreaded Fmaj7 chord on the ukulele! This is truly a milestone!

Now, I've been playing the ocarina for about 10 months and even though I've reached the end of the Hal Leonard method book I'm definitely not ready to take my show on the road. I know that the standard model is the alto/tenor C and it took me a while to find one I enjoyed playing. Most players start with a plastic model, but unfortunately my hands are so small that the holes on the plastic ocarina I purchased from STL are waaay too big for me to be able to cover with my fingertips.

So I didn't really get into it until I got my Element Air Soprano C ocarina. It's small, cute, green and fits perfectly in my wee hands. Unfortunately, it's also as shrill as a dog whistle and takes so much air to play that it makes me feel like I have emphysema. I still love it, but damn, it takes a lot of air!

I have a couple more ocarinas, but my true love is the STL purple clay Alto/Tenor C. That ocarina is perfect in every way. It has a beautiful tone, it's lightweight and the holes are the smallest I've seen on an alto/tenor C. If only it came with a neck strap!

One of these days I'll get a multi-chamber ocarina. It's purple clay or bust!

I wonder if anyone else has ever sat there for twenty minutes watching their cat lick himself.

We had a big thunderstorm this evening but it was just heavy rain. I've hated thunderstorms since I was a kid, but apparently they clear pollution from the air. And this storm saved me from having to water my plants, so I'm grateful.

I ordered myself a beautiful fuchsia concert ukulele off Etsy. It was pretty pricey, but I'm paying it off in installments. I've been playing the ukulele for since last June, and I'm teaching myself how to finger pick now. I've been using the Hal Leonard method books for instruction, and man, they force you to do that nasty B flat bar chord in like every song! I can't say how good I am at the instrument, but at least if you screw up in practice it doesn't sound as awful as it does with the flute, LOL...

Yeah, I've been coping with all this stress by trying to learn like 4 different instruments. Don't ask me why I can't stick to one. They all seem like they are related somehow. Maybe it's because they are all in the key of C?

On the ocarina front, I don't know why Song of Storms is considered a beginner piece. That high E-F-E drop down to C and then A is murder on my hands and I'm always worried I'm going to drop my instrument!

I found 2 sites with video game lead sheets and I'm like ^O^...

Kind of. But you don't get to see my face! You only get to see Booboo!

Seriously, fuck Facebook for putting my DOB out there. I had wanted to stay off Facebook, because there are a few people from my high school years I am hiding from forever. I just don't think I have a choice. I have literally no presence in social media. No one is going to be seeing that nail polish!

No point in pretending to be a Millennial.

Ha.

Updated the Etsy shop. Kristen figured out how to do calculated shipping and knocked a few dollars off the shipping cost. Ha ha ha.

We have a few more colors to add at the end of the week. At the moment we only have three wee bottles of each color, and once they sell out, we'll be making these to order in both 5ml and 15ml size. Because everyone likes a fresh bottle of nail polish, right?

We had to charge more for some of them because the interference pigment was $$$. But I do have a taste for the stuff!

A Preview.

Kristen posted a preview of some of the first nail polish colors we will be offering in our Etsy shop once we get the show on the road, lol...At this point, we figured that offering mini bottles will be the most financially kind for both our customers and ourselves. I only did three of the polishes listed so far: St Elles (which I thankfully did not have to reformulate), Wakaba (which Kristen swatched for me, and it was pretty sweet), and Ajisai(light purple cream with a aqua/multichrome shift). I have a few more colors to add, but I'm not sure which ones I want to start with. Dark royal blue with orange shimmer? Aqua with holographic pigment and gold sparks? Or do I pull Rose Quartz out of the vault?

Kristen does really nice glitter polishes. I tested a spring green one out with peel-off basecoat yesterday and it was gorgeous. Too bad it fell off in five hours, thanks Unt, lol...

Benibara and Mariko.

I had painted my nails a couple of days ago, which is why you can see so much cuticle margin there, lol...the lighting has been just wrong even for my crappy photos.

But look at that red! There is nary a hint of orange!

The glitter jelly was made by Kristen, and she's calling it Benibara. The violet shifty one is mine, and I'm calling it Mariko. Because of the entire cast of Oniisama e...Mariko with her red pinky nails was the only character I liked by the end. XD

We've been filling up mini bottles for eventual sale. I have two polishes I'd like to reformulate a bit before releasing them into the wild: Saint Elles, because the glitter has been discontinued, and Frozen Dream, because I think that the old suspension base and large silver holo shreds made it too prone to chipping.

I told Kristen I love Benibara so much I wouldn't mind being buried wearing it. That glitter jelly really looks like jelly!

This is literally the first time in my life I've worn red nail polish. I think I like it!

More nail polish.

Could've done a better job painting my nails, and could've taken a better picture.

The dark blue polish with the red sparks is called "Will O'Wisp," and the sparkly purple one is called "Shion."

Iceflower

This very pale blue creme polish is called Iceflower. The color reminds me of the Essie polish Find Me an Oasis, but with blue and pink shimmer. In some lighting it looks more white than blue, but trust me, it's blue! I think it self-levels better, too...lol...

Please ignore that air bubble there. I was a fool and shook the polish hard before I applied it!

Lorelei and Sunny Valley.

The glitter polish is another of Kristen's. I named it Sunny Valley, lol...the solid polish is Lorelei. It contains many colors: the base is wine red with multi-chrome interference powder and rose-gold micro-flakies. It looks very striking and glittery in bright sunlight!

Queen of Violets.

It's the first time I've done a one color manicure in a long time! I just noticed that the glitter polish takes shorter to dry, and I'm too busy to wait 10 minutes per coat.

This one is really...purple. I only have a sample of the pigment I used for this polish, so if I want to sell this one I'll definitely have to buy more.

Reine des Violettes is the name of a sad little Hybrid Perpetual rose we have growing in a pot on our deck. Maybe naming a nail polish after it will make it get healthy!
