I found a flowerbud on "Quietness" this morning, too. It's good to know we don't have rose midge in our yard!

While I was outside I saw a large bird-of-prey soaring through the sky carrying a chipmunk in its talons. I'm no fan of chipmunks, but that was damn disturbing.

Iceland Poppy "Spring Fever" has five buds waiting to open and another five poking up near the base of the plant. I've always considered these plants to be ephemeral beauties that die a slow death as soon as I put them in the ground. Not "Spring Fever!" This is one robust, floriferous poppy! I hear this cultivar will bloom for months. I hope so! Too bad it's only a biennial, and it appeals to be sterile...
