"Heirloom"'s first flower opened flat, and I figured that it wasn't worth sharing on LJ.

This gorgeous second flower is more like it! I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this rose in the long term. For the first month and a half it barely grew at all and then it suddenly shot out almost a foot of growth! I wonder if that's how hybrid tea roses play...

I don't know if the photo captures it, but that bloom is huge and the color is BOSS. I've never seen anything like it. I am a little concerned about this rose, though, because it's not cold hardy for our zone and it's already starting to outgrow the pot. Who wants a 5'x5' rose with huge thorns in a pot you have to overwinter in the house? Well, if the flowers are this pretty...
