David Austin Rose "Scepter'd Isle" has been our slowest growing rose of its class. I looked out my bedroom window this morning to see a smallish, apparently unimpressive flower drooping near the base of the plant. I ventured outside with trepidation, expecting to see the bloom crawling with thrips. It was actually perfect.

Much nicer than its first bloom! Unfortunately, I have to hold it up to photograph it because it's literally inches from the ground.



It goes to show you that pretty much any rose is better than "Moondance"...

All the photos I take of "Scepter'd Isle" have come out with a purple cast. I think this one is more accurate.
