Lucas' Dental Surgery.
Jul. 1st, 2017 01:34 pmLucas had his very first dental experience on Thursday. Unfortunately, he ended up having to have 3 teeth extracted: the loose incisor, which was unfortunately abcessed, a molar that had apparently been broken years ago, and one of his fangs. :( Even though we had been cleaning his teeth all this time we had no idea what was going on below the surface...
The vet got to hear Booboo do his trademark screaming when he was separated from us in the mobile unit. She said he sounded like a tropical bird!
The whole procedure took about 1 1/2 hours and then I got to see Booboo in the recovery kennel flat as a pancake with his mouth stuffed full of bloody gauze. 4 hours later he was delivered by a vet assistant who missed our house, requiring me to chase her down the street to get my damn cat back. He shot out of his carrier like a torpedo and spent 15 minutes darting around the house like he had just escaped an alien abduction. Once he realized he was home he became very affectionate, which made me tear up from the sweetness until I noticed how dilated his pupils were. He was tripping balls!
He seems more lucid now. He has a good appetite. He's finally sleeping after being wired and zany for 48 hours. I guess that's how he handles anesthesia, huh...
