Maybe some people wouldn't put something like this behind a cut, but I'm going exercise some manners, mwah hah! Because sometimes talking about your cat's bizarre litterbox antics might be too much information. I still feel that I need to share. O_o

Let me start by saying that Lucas, my almost 3 year old Ragdoll kitty, has impeccable litterbox habits. He hasn't soiled outside the box since he was a baby, probably because we supply him with three litterboxes in easy-to-access locations. Some people might turn their noses up at the fact that one of our jumbo uncovered boxes is in the DINING ROOM, but we keep it scooped and wood pellet litter is decidedly less gross than clay.

I also have to point out that Lucas is an exceptionally clean kitty. Maybe it's just vanity, but he licks himself like a maniac and always keeps his fanny clean (not always easy for a long-haired cat). He can be pretty fussy after using the box, and likes to wipe his paws clean on whatever soft surface is available, i.e, the carpet, curtains....

Maybe it's because he never got in the habit of eliminating inappropriately, but if he's nervous or not happy with the state of the box, he'd rather hold it in for 8 hours than do his business on the floor. Good news, right?

Sometimes I think he goes a little to far to keep clean, though. I guess the dining room box wasn't too his liking, because this morning I was standing in kitchen, enjoying my tea, when I saw Lucas stretched out and teetering on the front edge of the box on all four paws-- like a bird on a perch, with his fanny raised at least five inches over the litter...doing his business long distance. I know it's gross--but it was so freaking funny!!! It was like the box was so gross to him that he'd rather squat over it like he was using a Japanese toilet than put his butt down on the dirty litter! O_O

Honestly, the box wasn't that bad, but I cleaned it right away afterward. I know that some of you are probably disgusted that I shared a story like this. It was so funny to watch that I had to draw a picture of it to show my mother...XD
