Strange things happen in the winter.
Dec. 30th, 2011 12:23 pmOur hybrid tea rose "Silver Shadows" bloomed for the first time today. Indoors. It's about 40 degrees outside, a few days before New Year's, and one of our roses bloomed. XD
Because of some kind of mix-up, we got this rose in the middle of October. We figured we'd just try our best to overwinter it indoors. As far as I know, "Silver Shadows" is only cold-hardy to Zone 6. Strangely enough, the plant was comfortable enough in our unheated anteroom that it produced a single flower for us to enjoy. Unfortunately, I have a hard time taking good photos of roses. I really need a tripod!
It has a very nice fragrance. It's an unusual color for a rose, no?
