leene_chan | Putting together the Japanese language, one word at a time.

At least, that's how my studies have been progressing lately ^_^;;......I read or watch something for the first time in a few weeks, and it dawns on me "Hey, I know that word now!" I wish I could learn faster, but Kristen keeps telling me that if I push myself too hard I'm going to burn out. I know she's right, but sometimes I get so frustrated! Maybe it's because of the writing system, but I feel like I'm wading through a quagmire of language when I visit a Japanese page or read a Japanese publication. Manga isn't so bad, because it's mostly dialogue, and I'm all right with understanding speech most of the time. I feel like the way I did in my AP Spanish 4 class, reading Horacio Quiroga, when my teacher kept yelling at us to stop talking in Spanish like children and use more complex words. We had covered most of the grammar, and I was comfortable with it, but when I read these stories I had to literally look up every other word in the dictionary. It's just slow. ::sighs:: I'm finding out that the vocabulary that you learn in college Japanese classes is geared specifically to universities and businesses, and at some point you really have to do some "field study" on your own.

Dum dum...I got fed up looking for pictures of that 27cm Artificial Angel and did a search specifically for her on the Yahoo!Japan auctions. Unfortunately, since her name is Sirius, the search brought up a lot of naughty Harry Potter doujinshi! :D ....Now that's one thing I really can't get into.

I didn't get a great look at her, but she doesn't seem that pretty. The prototype was nice, though. Why do the commercial versions always look so washed out?
