^o^....So for my next project I'm knitting a sweater out of Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece. I had been pining for this yarn for a long time and I've heard good things about it. I chose Spryte for the color, which would maybe be better for children's clothing but I don't care! When I get an idea in my head nothing can chase it out. XD

Well, the yarn is lovely stuff. Spryte is mint green, not yellow-green like I feared and very pretty. But I'm terrible at working with cotton! I cannot get a proper gauge with this yarn. I managed to find a pattern I could work with after tossing out the original one (I was using the yarn they called for and the gauge (in a rib pattern) was an inch and a half off no matter what needles I used!). Now I'm attempting to make the sweater pictured on the cover of the Winter 2003 issue of Interweave Knits. I'm knitting on #4 needles and it looks all right so far but it's kind of see-through. I hope blocking will help!

It's too bad that Cotton Fleece isn't that easy to work with. I had hoped it could be my favorite yarn but I guess it's not to be.

On the other hand, Kristen bought some Koigu DK-weight Merino Crepe for a scarf and she let me play with a ball she wasn't using. It was pretty expensive but she didn't need much of it. But god, that yarn is a DREAM! It's like knitting with chewing gum! And it knits up properly on #6 needles! If I could use that yarn to make sweaters I could do whatever I want and never feel like a lousy knitter for not making the right gauge. I could compose a song about how awesome that yarn is. Damn! It's so expensive...;_;

I'm still playing Sword of Mana. The Glass Desert is officially the only desert place I've ever liked in a video game. So twinkly...^o^

twotone: Balls of pink and grey yarn indicate that I have a severe case of knit personality. (knitting)

Knitting with chewing gum is... good?

Sorry to hear the Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece isn't working out for you. :( I don't think I've made any garments with cotton yarn yet, but I keep seeing people who are absolutely miserable when knitting with cotton. Good luck with the new pattern!

For lack of a better term. ^_^; It's stretchy and it pulls back far when you're knitting and then it sproings right back! It's soft and easy on your hands...sniff...

I'm probably being too hard on the Cotton Fleece. I guess I'm used to knitting with wool. It really does feel nice against the skin. It's just kind of rigid.
