Seven Hours Into Tales of Destiny PS2.
Dec. 30th, 2006 03:24 pmI just got Philia as an NPC. And even though I've always really wanted to like her, I can't. Now that the game is full-voice she's even more of a fruitcake than before. Why does she always sound like she's on the verge of an orgasm? Why, Philia, whyyyy?
I'm going to hate to sub her in for Mary. Mary is awesome! Not enough RPGs feature the archetypal giant woman character. She totally dominates the screen in battle, especially when she does that guttural laugh at the end.
I continue to be shocked by how different Lion's personality is in the remake. In the PSX version he had a nasty temper and was always electrocuting people and saying things that made you want to smack him upside the head. In the remake he's dark, gloomy and hardly every talks. I remember that when I played TOD2 I wondered how the heck someone as petty as Lion matured into Judas. I guess that in the remake they want to make his character more consistent?
Hugo's voice has to be the weirdest I've heard in my life.
I never realized what a pain the grade system was until they took it away. Sure, the game loses replay value but at least you can concentrate on winning each battle and not worry how you do it.
Stahn's personality is different as well but he was so uninteresting in the PSX version that I can't remember a word he said. It's good that they made him more eager to be involved in the story. A main character who lets himself be dragged from event to event is a failure as a hero!
