O_O For the first time in my life, I saw my homestate of Connecticut pelted with like three tornado warnings over the course of two hours. Am I exaggerating? Maybe? I don't know but when they issued us the first tornado watch I've ever seen in my existence I was ready to start running around the house, flailing my arms and screaming. Severe weather-phobic? Maybe? I remember having one, maybe two tornado warnings a year but this year we've come too close for comfort.

Now that I think of it we had a tornado watch for Hurricane Gloria. I remember I started crying!

This time my brother was a complete bastard about letting us take cover in the basement. This is a guy who injured his knee from sitting on his ass too much in front of the computer and kept screaming obscenities at random points in the day (even when my father could hear) because he "just had to vocalize." I hope a straight-line wind rips his head off.

Thank God we only heard one rumble of thunder. We were spared! I guess we'll find out what really happened in a few days but I think I need a good stiff drink after that one.

Just in case any people from the Midwest think I'm a sissy, I can shovel snow with the best of them!

I'm still a little bit wound-up from yesterday and today I've been trying to do quiet things that make me happy. When I'm stressed the absolute best thing in the world for me is to watch that four-hour-long Betty Broderick TV movie starring Meredith Baxter. Since no channel was showing it I hooked up the ol' Super Nintendo and played Soul Blazer.

Soul Blazer was one of my favorite games when I was a kid. At age twelve I played it for seven hours a day on the weekends and my parents had to take the game away from me by force! I love the idea of having to rebuild the world by releasing the souls of humans, animals, plants, chests of drawers...now that I'm playing it again I realize that it does have its flaws. Greenwood is dull and the underwater town with the mermaids and dolphins is generic (even though the seabed dungeon is beautiful). On the other hand, the underground town and Dr. Leo's Lab are quite creative! Quintet is my favorite developing team of all time; Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Tenchi Souzou are complete gems compared to some of the crap that's on the market nowadays.

As I was washing my face this morning it dawned on me that I should cut a good chunk out of the beginning of my story-in-progress in the second draft. I had always thought it was awkward and now that I've come along so far I think that rather than struggle to rewrite it I should just get rid of it. The idea made me feel light-headed and happy. Now I need to get back to work!
