We picked up this daylily "Cedar Waxwing" at our local nursery yesterday. Isn't it pretty? We planted it in front of "Nikko Blue." I think that there's no more awesome color combination than blue and orange. XD

Apparently that nursery procures plants for sale the way Trader Joe's buys food. A lot of local growers have been selling their stock to them. I was surprised to find a wide variety of Japanese iris! We picked up a pretty lilac pink one, but I damaged the flower in the car, rendering it not photo-worthy.

It's called "Little Heavenly Angel," and I got it cheeeeeap! It kind of looks like "Cedar Waxwing"'s Mini Me, except pure pink instead of coral.

I hadn't wanted to put down bright red mulch this summer, but it was all they had...

That doesn't mean we shouldn't praise the effort!

Here's my floribunda rose "Moondance"'s first flower. The poor thing's brown around the edges, but it smells awfully good. I never heard of a rose that smells like raspberries!

I pinched the first bud, and I don't see any more coming after this. I'll try to treat this plant nicely for the rest of the summer. Hopefully it will look better next year. I only planted it this May...

I'm not sure what causes the edges of the flower petals to brown like that. I'm hoping it's the weather and not more bugs.
