About 80 percent of our new irises are blooming this year. That seems reasonable! This soft apricot iris is really gorgeous. I always love the warm-toned colors on flowers one typically associates with cool colors.

Tall bearded iris "Oh, Jamaica!" is probably one of the tallest cultivars out there. We've had this one for awhile but it didn't bloom last year. It really needed to be divided. Irises usually need to be lifted and divided every three years!

I think that after today it's going to be dry for the foreseeable future...

This clematis is always hard to photograph. I wonder if it's because it's growing in the shade of the mock orange?

It's a bit more vigorous than Gillian Blades, but I prefer the flowers on the latter.

Chapeau de Napoleon has grown quite a bit in the past week. It's bigger than Julia Child and has at least two flowerbuds. I see the potential for four. Unfortunately, now the aphids are starting to visit...

When you mail-order once-blooming old garden roses, you don't expect to see flowers the first year. However, Northland Rosarium sent me this huge band of Madame Plantier in full bloom! I can't stop staring at this exquisite flower. And what a fragrance!
