I still remember the swarm of last year! I hear that the Asiatic ladybugs like this one can be pests, but I'm grateful for the fact that they killed the black flies infesting my mock orange this spring.
Really? I don't think you were around last year, but this past autumn a HUGE ladybug swarm moved over my house on its way to wherever it decided to hibernate. They were crawling all over the outside of my house, outside and inside my windows, and if I stood out on my deck and looked out over the neighborhood I could see hundreds more flying in from all directions. It was really freaky!
The nine-spotted ladybugs are supposed to be good luck.
