It's been hotter than this before, but the humidity made it hard to sleep. I hate humidity o_o.

If it can be any more inappropriate, I'm making an afghan with some yarn I bought a couple months ago. I know it's hardly the weather for that kind of thing, but it's nice methodical work and I can pretty much put my brain into neutral while I'm crocheting it. I have to say that I like crocheting a lot more than knitting, but I like the things you can knit more ^__^....

I love this doll.

HobbyLink Japan has a preorder for her. She's apparently a re-release of the Love Blitz Lycee, the only difference being that her outfit has blue plaid trim instead of red. She's too cute! Seeing her have a second release makes me feel better about the impossibility of getting any of those gorgeous 1/6 character dolls Volks released at the Dolls Party. I don't know what series they were supposed to be from, but I really liked that tanned doll with the white hair and cat ears. =_= Those dolls are so rare, you can't even find them on Yahoo!Japan. Damn you, Volks, for making your commercial dolls so inaccessible!

I don't know what the heck I'm supposed to be doing in Golden Sun 2. I'm at the Mars Lighthouse, but I can't find a way past these fire breathing monkey statues.

Speaking of which, I was playing TOD 2 a few nights ago, and the stupidest thing happened. I was making my way through that time-limit dungeon in Harold's time period, and all of a sudden we had a blackout! I was terrified that my data had been erased, but thank God I had the whole unit plugged into a power strip! Then, I tried to go through the dungeon again and I ran out of time. -_-;; I'm quitting for now. I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out, but the dialogue is starting to get treacherous. Blah blah blah, find the keys within 10 minutes, you can't leave with any of them because they're sensitive to temperature and will go poof. I guess we'd better hurry up and find them! Other than that, I can't understand anything. I have to wonder if within the difficult Japanese Harold says where I'm supposed to USE the keys. Sometimes the only character I can understand is Reala. Harold and Judas are the worst!

I used this Frizz-Ease stuff in my hair when I washed it last night, and it made it look horrible. I can't deal with it any more! The problem is, my hair stylist tells me not to blow dry it because it's too fine, but if I air-dry it it dries into weird spiral curls that flop out after a while but if I try to comb them out it gets all frizzy. -_-;;.....I guess that if I wanted to go "natural" I'd have to keep the curls, but I HATE not being able to comb my hair.

Oh well...my boring life. You think that after fighting to learn all the new things I would have learned how to style my damn hair! ^o^

I apologize if you already found the answer to this, but the cat-girl (Roise) is from Volks's new series, Der Ring des Niebelungen.

http://www.volks.co.jp/c_goods/niebe/index.html

The general gist appears to be that there are nine legendary Valkyries who are either immortal or reincarnated endlessly (the blurb on the front page seems to be a little murky on that).

Each of the girls bears a jewel or element that is the soul of one of the Valkyries; she also has a weapon that belongs to the Valkyrie and has special powers.

It looks like these girls were available at the Dolpa after events as well. I get the impression that this is going to be like their Lost Angel series, hopefully complete with novels and booklets.

Thanks so much for the info! It was quite helpful. ^_^ I just found their page yesterday, but I hadn't attempted a translation yet.

I hope that Volks gives these dolls a wider release! I think they're all pretty, but I like Roise's hair and eyes the best. I think I only saw them on Yahoo!Japan for a few days after their release, and now I can't seem to find them at all. I guess that's what I get for not paying attention to 1/6 scale dolls for a while.

By the way, your icon is really cute! ^_^

Thanks!

Glad to help... I'm not on any of the major Volks or doll-customization lists, so I never know what info is widely known and what stuff is only starting to get out.

(e.g. I'd known that Obitsu was working on making a 60 cm doll body for a month or so now, but hadn't realized that it was being sold commercially until I spotted some on Yahoo!Japan... and found detailed info on ganio.com :p)

In case you're still interested in her:

Link to Yahoo!Japan auctions.

They seem fairly pricey to me... but then, I'm still struggling to accept that my beloved Takara Jenny dolls can cost upwards of 6500 yen a pop. :p

This is why I'll probably never get into the SD market; my brain automatically converts any price into "How many CDs or potato chips or hamsters could I buy with this?"

Also, Thanks for the kind comments regarding my icon. :) All of the penguin photos were taken by my fiance, using his digital camera. I am in awe of his photo skillz (and will probably hijack the digital camera for dolly purposes when he's not looking).

:D Wow! You must have much better eyes than I do, I hadn't noticed any of those auctions! Thank you!

But...jeez, they sure are asking a lot for her, aren't they? I know that her yen price was higher than the Lost Angels', but that looks really high! I wonder what I'm going to do...?

::twitch twitch::

I love Jenny dolls, too! I've been collecting them since 1999. They are cheaper than Volks dolls, but when you think about it they still are pretty expensive. I won't deny that there's something about them that makes them more beautiful than Volks dolls. Especially Marine ^_^!

They don't usually talk about commercial dolls in the groups, so any news is new to me. I usually scour Japanese pages to find any info I can. I hadn't seen anyone with the new Volks dolls, though. So much money...I should save it for a new digital camera. ^o^

Penguins are so cute!

Oh, Marine is definitely one of the loveliest Takara dolls (although I still have difficulty telling Marine apart from Excelina Jenny). She's so lovely, even my non-dolly-geek sister remembered Marine-chan as being "the really pretty Jenny friend".

I'm so envious of the people who went to Licca Castle and were able to paint/airbrush their own Marine dolls. That seems like the best of both worlds, to me... you get a lovely Marine doll with perfect eyepaint, but you also get to have a hand in custom-creating her!

Incidentally, the Roise doll retailed at 15800 yen (16590 yen including tax), so anything that hovers around there would probably be a fair price to pay for her. It looks like Volks isn't releasing the next set of Valkyrie dolls until 2004... maybe they'll re-release Roise and her friends at December's Dolpa?
