My New Doll.
Sep. 25th, 2003 03:13 pmI painted my doll with the SH-06 head and that new NDR red-brown hair last night. All in all it went okay, but as usual I started out planning to give him gray eyes and ended up doing them in blue-gray. Guess it just wasn't to be! ^o^
His name is Nicholas. He looks really happy, doesn't he? I left his hair long with the intention of tying it back, but I think I'll let it flow freely for the time being.
I really like the SH-06 head! ^__^ It's the only head I don't ever have a hard time painting. I do prefer to use it for male dolls, but it's so cute that I just might make a girl or two with it.
I need to find this kid some new clothes! He looks pretty dorky in that blue sweater.^_^;;.....

Painting SDs really is easier! I've been painting 1/6 scale dolls for 3 years, and I'm still not quite comfortable with it. It takes a lot of practice.

I've tried using a lot of different brushes, with varying results. The one I used the most for Nicholas was a 000 Leow-Cornell 7000 Round.... something like that. For the bigger areas like the base color of the pupil, you need to use a bigger brush, and mine was a number 2 of the same brand. The letters wear off really easily! ^_^; I bought them at a Michael's craft store.

Date: 2003-09-25 05:59 pm (UTC)And the rooting-job is gorgeous!
Rooting has always been a difficult thing for me, so I'm always in awe of professional-looking rooting jobs like yours.
