Pastel Red-Violet with Gold Shimmer.

This is my second trial polish. Pastel red-violet (does such a thing exist?) with gold shimmer. This time I tried out using mica/pigment base instead of the glitter suspension base I usually use. It can't suspend glitter, but I had wondered if it would be the better choice for more simple creme or shimmer polishes.

Well, it is much shinier and does not show the brush strokes like creme polish made with a glitter suspension base. The drying time is much longer (10 minutes per coat as opposed to under 5) but it self-levels better and looks much more professional. I used Essie Speed Setter as a top coat because I didn't to have to wait forever for it to dry. But there are advantages to slower-drying polishes, really. And this stuff has been pretty damn resilient.

I used red-violet dry pigment and liquid white for this one. It is really hard to find a good pink pigment that doesn't have a brown cast, even harder to find a red without hidden orange that makes the polish turn out coral when you try to tint it! I think this red-violet turned out well. I'm not sure if the gold shimmer shows up in photos, but it's in there!

Oh, that is lovely! I can definitely see a subtle gold shimmer - very classy :)
